Dr Alex Psirides

New Zealand

Alex is an ICU consultant & co-director of Wellington ICU in New Zealand. He is medical director of Wellington's aeromedical retrieval service and clinical leader of the National Deteriorating Patient Programme for the New Zealand Health Quality & Safety Commission. His research interests include rapid response systems, aeromedicine, fatigue, and how dying patients are recognised and managed. He should probably have been a palliative care physician. He once ventilated a chimpanzee. These two statements are unrelated although it didn't end well for the chimp.
